When Sex Becomes About You

Selfish Sex and what The Bible Says

It seems that more and more people today are having premarital sex. The problem with this is that is selfish, it feeds a selfish desire in us. We have to remember that God intended sex for much more than a once and done interaction. In Mark 7:20-23 it says “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person. Meaning that if we have sex just because we want it evil things come out of it, if we look at history we can see the evil things that are coming out of it such as HIV, STD’S, and also people’s lives being destroyed.

Sex In The News

In this recent article:

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/1/26/cbc_fires_jian_ghomeshi_over_sex_allegations.html a host of a popular show was fired because he had sex with women that claimed he forced them to have sex. Of course the person who is being charged is claiming that he did nothing wrong and is filing a 50 million dollar lawsuit against the broadcaster. Perhaps if this person would have had a better relationship with one person he would still have his job. The Bible presents sex as a gift from God and that it’s between one man and one woman, again referring back to Mark 7:20-23 nothing good can come out premarital sex.

SIN

Every day we see it; there is sin all around us. We drive down the highway and see signs for strip clubs, bars and adult video stores. All of these can temp us and lead us into sin. Lately, Google has vowed to take down all sexual advertising so there is now one less place that you will see it.

Check out this article http://national.deseretnews.com/article/1643/googles-getting-rid-of-sexual-advertisements-this-month.html

These industries that sell this adverting are definitely evil and all they want is your money. But while they're getting your money they're also trying to tell you that its ok to do these things and that if you do no one will judge you. What they're not telling you is that you are sinning. Sin is tricky and so is the devil. The bible tells us that the devil is the father of all lies and that he is the great deceiver. He deceives many people every day. We need resist that temptation and ask ourselves what the consequences of doing these things are, because what eventually goes around comes around. In Matthew 5:27-30 It says “You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery."  But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. So what i think he was getting at if something causes you to sin stop looking at it. For our purpose don't get a computer, try not to look at the advertising on the road take the back way if you can.

Who are Saints

Who are these Saints you speak of?

What do we think of when we hear the word Saint? I'm sure that Mother Teresa of Calcutta is among one of the first that cross your mind, or maybe Saint Paul or Peter?  The word Saint can be found from the Greek word hagiazo. It Literally means to set apart or to make holy. Most people think that in order to become a saint in life we have to do great works but in fact for the christian believer it is done through Christ's death on the cross, so indeed every believer is a saint.

What Do I Feel Saints Look Like Today?

In today's world i would consider a Saint to be a Christian that's not afraid of anything. One that takes up the Holy armor of God and goes out into the field, such as our American Troops, our Missionaries and so on that fight for our everyday lives.  Just think how hard it must be to be around the constant presence of death and leaving what you know to go out and serve for God and your country. I feel it is one of the most honorable things someone can do.

So every believer is a saint but maybe not all of us know it? Every believer is set apart by God on a mission to do His work. God has a plan for each and everyone of us and its important to remember that even though we may not play a huge role we still all are part of this together and each person has a important role in the body of Christ.
