Every day we see it; there is sin all around us. We drive down the highway
and see signs for strip clubs, bars and adult video stores. All of these can
temp us and lead us into sin. Lately, Google has vowed to take down all sexual
advertising so there is now one less place that you will see it.

These industries that sell this adverting are definitely evil and all they
want is your money. But while they're getting your money they're also trying to
tell you that its ok to do these things and that if you do no one will judge
you. What they're not telling you is that you are sinning. Sin is tricky and so
is the devil. The bible tells us that the devil is the father of all lies and
that he is the great deceiver. He deceives many people every day. We need
resist that temptation and ask ourselves what the consequences of doing these
things are, because what eventually goes around comes around. In Matthew
5:27-30 It says “You have heard that it was said, You shall not
commit adultery." But
I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already
committed adultery with her in his heart. If
your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is
better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown
into hell. And if your
right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better
that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. So
what i think he was getting at if something causes you to sin stop looking at
it. For our purpose don't get a computer, try not to look at the advertising on
the road take the back way if you can.
Good stuff, Jordan. What a neat thing that Google is doing here! Wow, that is exciting! True, advertising using explicit content makes use of this content hoping to sell you on the product but forgetting the impact it leaves on the heart, and the reality that it is totally against the purity of God.
ReplyDeleteGod's word is clear regarding heart purity, and you have definitely pointed to that in your blog. May we keep that in the fore front of our minds as we engage culture and our heart as it is drawn to sin of the flesh and the world.
That is so interesting about Google! I had no idea, that's awesome! I liked your very last sentence in your post. It shows how you can apply the Biblical principle of Matthew 5:27-30 in everyday life. God provides us with an escape, for we are not tied down by sin, or enslaved by sin. We have victory, even though we see sin everywhere, and we continue to sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Nice post Jordan!
